Careers Counselling & Personality
Profiling
Our Personality Profile is used for
Careers and Personal Counselling, and is built on:
~ The Myers Briggs MBTI Type Indicator
~ The Cattell 16 Personality Factor trait indicator
~ Belbin's Team Roles
~ The Holland 'Self Directed Search' inventory of suitable job types
~ The 32 basic job-value indicator
~ Ravens Matrices: tests of reasoning ability
~ Evans' Test of Creativity
There is an initial one hour meeting to
establish the client's current position, past experience and reasons for
change. The client will then fill in suitable questionnaires from the list
above (plus any others considered useful). The results are formulated into a 16
page report, and this is given to the client at the two hour feedback session,
where the client's personality, traits, team potential and job interests and
values are described and discussed in detail. From this data comes a short list
of job opportunities that are a close match with the client's personality and
interests. There can be follow up sessions to track job applications, formulate
an effective CV or decide on strategies for job seeking.
This careers counselling service has been
extensively used in the performing arts and media, for instance by over sixty
dancers referred through the Dancer's Career Development Fund (previously the
Dancers' Resettlement Fund), and by a number of actors and musicians seeking a
change in career. It has also been used as a useful tool for executives in
post, for analysing current issues and strategies. The personality aspects of
the questionnaires have also proved invaluable in relationship counselling for
distinguishing personality differences within partnerships that may unwittingly
be causes of friction.
The usual cost of a full careers analysis
is £180. There may be special offers in place for MU and Equity members (see
home page)
